  • Natural seashell filler (harvested from the beach and washed prior to use)
  • Fine rock filler
  • Sand filler
  • Hand painted glass, stone, or sand filler
  • A combination of the other kinds of fillers
  • Various styles and usages of ribbons

Process

I seek to utilize a combination of new, pre-made, thrifted, and personally modified items in my art. Here is a breakdown of how any given piece of floral art I create utilizes new, thrifted, and modified parts:

  • Vases will always be purchased new or thrifted and washed prior to filling. The vases may be painted, but some will not be, to allow a wider range of prices to fit in a wider range of budgets for gifts and celebrations. (The photo you see on the listing in my shop will be the product you receive, unless you order a custom made flower arrangement or art piece. In the case of a custom order, I will send you a photo of the end product to make sure it is to your liking prior to shipping and you may cancel your order if you are not satisfied with the product.)
  • Filler will always be purchased new and may be modified, such as by painting the stones.
  • Flowers and greenery will be purchased new or thrifted. In the case of thrifted flowers, I will always select only the best quality artificial flowers that look nice and are not stained nor dirty. In some cases, I may paint or dye the flower petals, but all the artificial flowers will be premade and purchased either new or thrifted.
  • Ribbons will be purchased new in most cases, but if a particularly nice and well-cared for spool of ribbon shows up at my local thrift store that meets my exacting standards, the ribbon may be thrifted as well.
  • Hair clip hardware such as alligator clips and barrettes will always be purchased new and then modified with florals and/or greenery.
